Major Changes to ARCC Services (Teton HPC Replacement) - 09/19/2022

Overview

ARCC services will be undergoing substantial changes starting in the new year, with the goal of minimizing impacts on ongoing projects. Below you will find a list of the upcoming changes and how we can best ensure it is a smooth transition.

If there are any questions, comments, or concerns please email arcc-help@uwyo.edu.

Upcoming Changes

  • Teton HPC cluster will be retired on January 1st, 2023.

    • ARCC will remove regular access to this cluster on January 1st, 2023. In the event that some work requires use of this cluster, please contact arcc-help@uwyo.edu and we will make accommodations.

    • The cluster will be available for use based on need, and will require a request, until May 1st, 2023.

    • Teton will enter a code freeze on October 15th, 2022.

  • Beartooth HPC cluster will take Teton’s place as ARCC’s general use HPC condo cluster and will be readily available beginning January 9th, 2023.

    • The same policies and usage models will remain in place for Beartooth.

    • All investment nodes will be migrated to the new cluster and will retain the same investor model as Teton.

    • The compute node make-up will not be changing. All hardware will be migrated to Beartooth.

    • Active projects on Teton must have this form filled out by their PI to continue working on the Beartooth cluster. Doing this ahead of time will ensure minimal interruption to your project.

    • Software installs - this change requires a recompilation/reorganization of the modules/software installed on the cluster.

      • Details can be found here.
