Globus V5 Upgrade Announcement

New Globus endpoints make it easier to transfer large datasets to and from UW ARCC hosted resources

UW ARCC has created new V5 endpoints which will improve data transfer capabilities between UW ARCC provided resources.

Previously, both Beartooth and Alcova shares were on a single collection named ARCC Teton.

Now the original ARCC Teton collection has been separated into 2 independent collections named:

  • Teton-Creek/Beartooth

  • Alcova FileSystem Access

A 3rd collection has been added to access Pathfinder S3 Buckets over Globus. This endpoint is named:

  • Pathfinder S3 Access

What this change means for UW ARCC Researchers:

If you’ve created a bookmark or shared a collection to a UW ARCC Teton endpoint, you will need to re-create and/or re-share using one of the new endpoints. Instructions are available here.
Old v4 endpoints are scheduled to be decommissioned May 31st, 2023

Endpoint Functionality Improvements:

  • Access to Pathfinder S3 Buckets

Learn more about using Globus to transfer research data:

If you have large datasets that need to be shared between collaborators, or transferred from elsewhere to UW ARCC’s HPC environment, you may benefit from using Globus to facilitate these data transfers. Read more about using Globus here.
