Overview

Objects stored on Pathfinder can be shared over the web with an expiring URL. Below are methods for creating an expiring URL for an object stored on Pathfinder.

MSP360 Explorer (Cloudberry)

Once the item that is to be shared has been uploaded to Pathfinder:

1. Open the folder that contains the item using the GUI S3 client.

2. Right click and select Web URL or after selecting the item click on the Web URL button in the ribbon menu bar.

3. Select Expire URL at specified date in the Generate Web URL pop up window.

4. Enter in the date that you wish for the URL to expire at.

5. Then press the Generate Link button to generate the URL.

After which you are free to copy and share the URL from the window. Note that the full link is required for colleagues to access the files being shared.

Cyberduck

Once the item that is to be shared has been uploaded to Pathfinder:

1. Select the item by clicking on it.

2. Either right click on the item or click on Edit from the options menu at the top of the application.

3. Select Copy URL and then select the desired expiration time from the list.

After which the URL gets copied into the clipboard any you can freely paste it.

Expiration Period

The default options for what expiration period to use for generating the URLs can be changed by editing a hidden preference.

The s3.url.expire.seconds preference can be edited from the default 86400 (24 hours) to other time periods.
