Training Accounts for Short Courses/Training

Overview

ARCC maintains twenty-five training accounts that educators can use for various computation related short courses that require temporary access to ARCC’s HPC resources by students who are external to UWyo.

Check-out

Please fill out the https://arccwiki.atlassian.net/servicedesk/customer/portal/2/group/15/create/51 form to check-out some or all of the available training accounts and associated yubikeys.

How they work

The training accounts function the same way a regular user account does except that they use a yubikey for authentication rather than a duo push.

  1. To use them, insert the yubikey into an easily accessible USB port so that the circular depression on one side can be touched.

  2. Bring up a command prompt on the computer and type in:

    1. ssh arcc-t<##>@beartooth.uwyo.edu <ret>

    2. For example: ssh arcc-t01@beartooth.uwyo.edu <ret>

    3. Enter password that you were provided when you picked up the yubikeys followed by a comma, then touch the depression on the yubikey. Yes, actually touch the flashing circle on the yubikey.

      1. For example: <password>,<touch-the-yubikey>

Check-in

Make arrangements to return the yubikeys to ARCC after the class ends.
