Overview

  • PyCharm: A Python IDE for developers. We have installed the Community Edition.

Using

Use the module name pycharm to discover versions available and to load the application.

No particular version of Python is setup with the IDE. It is up to the user to setup their Python environment, either through loading a module version of python or creating a conda environment.

Since this is an GUI IDE, we recommend using from a SouthPass interactive desktop session, and not directly from a login node.

Versions and Plugins

PyCharm is continually being developed and new versions released. We are unable to update every time a new version comes out, but will endeavor to update a number of times throughout the year. If there is a particular version you require, submit a new software request via ARCC portal.

Due to the 1000s of available plugins we can not install them all. If there is a particular plugin you’d like to use, submit a new software request and we will assess whether it is something we can add to the current module.
