Launching the Matlab GUI:
When first logging into Southpass, you will be presented with a number of pinned options.
Matlab should be one of them. Select Matlab to start a VNC Session with Matlab. You will be presented with a number of options. Choose your Matlab version from the dropdown list.
In the Account Box, put in your Project Name, NOT your UW User Account:
If you have a Reservation, you may specify it in the Reservation field, but one is not required to start a session:
Put in the number of hours you will need access to the Matlab Virtual Session:
For the number of CPUs, Memory, GPU Type and GPUs, choose what you think you will need to run Matlab. This will fill in with a default if you aren’t sure and will default to common minimum requirements:
Check the box if you’d like to receive an e-mail when the session is available for use. Usually a session will be available quickly, but if resources are unavailable or in use, you may select the option to receive an e-mail notifying you when it’s ready for use:
Once requested, your session will be queued and the window heading will be blue. When it is ready to start, the session heading will turn green. Click the blue button at the bottom to launch Matlab:
You should now be in a Virtual Machine graphical user interface (GUI) with Matlab.
