July 7, 2024: Storage on Teton Creek and Alcova degraded - Resolved
Early this morning (2024-07-07) at around 4am, Teton Creek and Alcova storage systems entered a degraded state due to a hardware problem.
The issue has now been resolved, and both storage systems are functioning normally.
Jobs running on Beartooth that involve file operations to either of these storage systems may have been impacted, resulting in a "Stale File Handle" error when attempting to read data from either of the storage systems.
We encourage researchers to check their jobs for any unexpected output and re-submit jobs as needed.
Additionally, please be aware that Beartooth will undergo maintenance starting at 8am MST on Tuesday, July 9th, and is scheduled to be completed by 5pm MST on Wednesday, July 10th, 2024.

ARCC is planning a week long set of workshops titled: Research Computing & HPC Essentials - (Getting started with ARCC's services)
This will include a number of workshops covering the following subjects:
Intro to Linux, Intro to High Performance Computing, and ARCC Services including SouthPass (Beartooth HPC via your web browser), Data Transfers, and Using Python/R in High Performance Computing.
Attendees have the option to sign up for any workshops they'd like to attend. This can be the entire week, or a subset of workshops in which they are most interested.
We're trying to gauge when this will be most useful for campus, and have two sets of dates in mind:
The week prior to Semester starting: August 19-23, 2024
The second week after semester has started: September 9-13, 2024.
We'd like to hear which timeframe is better suited for anyone interested in attending. Interested parties may provide feedback through this web form.
Beartooth HPC Performance Issues: April 12, 2024
ARCC became aware of an issue affecting use and performance on the Beartooth HPC cluster. To prevent further issues, jobs have been halted. Any jobs that were running on the Beartooth cluster this morning at 10:40am will need to be restarted.

Beartooth HPC Performance Issues: April 3, 2024
ARCC System Administrators became aware of an issue affecting use and performance on the Beartooth HPC cluster. To prevent further issues, we have halted jobs. Any jobs that were running and not completed on the Beartooth cluster as of 3:40pm this afternoon will need to be restarted.

Maintenance is scheduled January 8-12, 2024 (completed January 11, 2024):
Datacenter infrastructure is scheduled for maintenance the week of January 8th, 2024. All UW ARCC resources, including but not limited to any HPC cluster access, Pathfinder and Alcova storage, and miscellaneous services will be subject to significant downtime this week beginning at 8am on January 8th. ARCC Services back online effective 5:45 pm November 7, 2023.
IT Datacenter Network Maintenance Scheduled November 6, 2023 - Extended though November 7, 2023

Nov 6 Update: Data center network infrastructure was upgraded November 6th, however Beartooth is experiencing network issues and may be subject to network interruptions tomorrow (November 7th, 2023).
Data center network infrastructure is planned for upgrade November 6th. With this in mind, network switches feeding connections to ARCC HPC Resources, and access to those resources will be subject to significant downtime all day Monday, November 6, 2023.
Following November 6 scheduled maintenance, the singularity module which was previously auto loaded when users log into Beartooth will no longer be auto loaded, and users will need to perform a module load singularity/<version> before being able to use the singularity container software.
Please plan to perform any work in connection with these resources outside of maintenance.

OnDemand Maintenance Scheduled October 6, 2023

ARCC Infrastructure Team will be performing maintenance on all OnDemand resources this week beginning Friday, October 6, 2023. Maintenance is expected to begin at 1:00pm MST and continue through the afternoon until completion. On-Demand ARCC services will be offline at the scheduled time including access to all web-available resources at https://southpass.arcc.uwyo.edu. Please plan to perform your work on on-demand services outside the maintenance time scheduled this Friday.
